USS Enterprise the 2009 version in /graphite on A3 Bristol Board using Steadtler HB - B4, took me around 60 hours in total. Enjoyed this one and was a suggestion following my request for a car to draw, hope you enjoy.
Beautiful work!! I love the clean, futuristic lines of the original Enterprise. I would insist that my Constitution-class starship be painted clean white with red insignia if I were to fly one to the stars- looking pretty is very important when you are going to meet intelligent aliens.
Have been painting most of my life but only took to pencils for ease and less mess etc 3 years ago, the wolves were the first animals I drew with colour pencils and the sleeping black beuty was the first car I drew in pencil and have been on a huge learning curve ever since, I ask other artists how they achieve the results they get and I will niow and then copy and print an artists work onto paper just so I can study the work in order to help me figure out how on earth they got the finish etc and will often copy just the part of the drawing / effect till I figure it out. I recently discovered mechanical pencils! they are perfect for getting fine detail into a work or for any work realy as the diameter of the lead never gets wider as you use it! I drew Keith Richards using a .30 mm lead for about 90% of the picture. Different manufactures leads have different characteristics! I love faber castel as they are so smooth and easy to move around with a tortion or cotton bud, steadtler make a range of black graphite that is Black the luminove range B6-9, other manufacturers B6-9 are just dark greys !And then their is the powders! make life even easier, so as you start on the journey you learn loads of tricks and tips. Always happy to help if you want tips etc. Jeff
Hi Laggy, pleased you like it. I would never have thought of doing it myself even tho' I love star trek! It was enjoyable to draw and quite difficult to get right spent ages getting the angle on the support before I was happy to draw it out and had to make a template to cover the ship to do the dark bits etc. Think I will do another one. Thanks for your comments. Cheers Jeff
Yea its clearly visible you spended some serious time and patience on it, your result realy shows it! The attention to details is very nice, as I might have sayd already, but liked to emphasize it again^^
